Hi, I’m Marie.

I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and have been working as a therapist for over 5 years. My specialty is providing trauma-focused therapy to kids, adults, families, and couples.

I also enjoy providing supervision to graduate students and new graduates pursuing licensure. I currently teach at University of Denver and Metropolitan State University in their graduate schools of social work.

Becoming a therapist has been an important part of my journey as a Latina and first-generation college student. My goals have been to reduce mental health stigma and increase access to therapy so that everyone can feel seen and supported.

In addition to being a therapist, I’m also a dog mom, love reading, and love to do something creative when I can find the time! Whether it’s plants, books, games, anime, nature, or animals, I’m sure we’ll find something to connect over!

My Background & Training

In 2020, I graduated with my master’s degree in social work from Columbia University. Since then, I’ve worked in the non-profit industry, done in-home trauma-focused family therapy, and worked at a group practice.

Ongoing learning is important for me to be an effective therapist. Here are some of the modalities I’ve completed trainings in:

  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) Trained

  • Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP)

  • Certified Grief Informed Professional (CGIP)

  • Certified Dialectical Behavioral Therapy Professional (C-DBT)

  • Certificate in Group Therapy

  • Geek Therapy® Certified

  • Certified Shame-Informed Treatment Specialist (CSTS)

I’ve also completed two-years of training in Somatic Experiencing (SE) as part of my training to become a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP). SE is not a therapy modality, but a method of working with trauma that focuses on the body by exploring the role of our survival responses in trauma and trauma healing.
